SYMPTOMS
In a new environment, when starting an Oracle GoldenGate (OGG) extract, the following error occurs:


ERROR OGG-00717 Oracle GoldenGate Capture for Oracle, <extract>.prm: Found unsupported in-memory undo record in sequence 329, at RBA <rba_no>, with SCN 0.5592737 (5592737) ... Minimum supplemental logging must be enabled to prevent data loss.
ERROR OGG-01668 Oracle GoldenGate Capture for Oracle, <extract>.prm: PROCESS ABENDING.
CHANGES

CAUSE

Supplemental logging is not enabled or the extract is positioned to a point where the supplemental logging has not been enabled.

SOLUTION

1. Make sure supplemental logging is enabled properly

SQL>SELECT SUPPLEMENTAL_LOG_DATA_MIN FROM V$DATABASE;

YES

If it is not enabled, use the following commands to enable it.

SQL>ALTER DATABASE ADD SUPPLEMENTAL LOG DATA;
SQL>ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE;

2. Alter the extract to a position when the supplemental logging has been enabled.

GGSCI>alter extract, <extract_name> begin now
